One of the first things a military person
learns is
respect for nature. Whether serving in a combat
or support role, when our military is in the field
they must coexist with nature and have learned to
do so very well. Unfortunately, few know of the
challenges associated with living with nature.
Our 'Period
Encampment' program is designed to
allow both young and old alike to experience what
it was like during any of the wars or conflicts in
which the United States Military participated. In
extension, while the participant is provided with
actual clothing, tools and instruments of the period
so they become a part of that time period, more
importantly they will learn how to coexist with
nature as did their forefathers of that era.
Participants will even prepare their meals using
recipes from the period in which they are camping.
Our goal is to educate while having a week full of
fun and excitement.
The program will not be limited by gender,
however age groups will be segregated to ensure
a safe, enjoyable experience focused on the time
period chosen by the participant. We will provide
programs from the Civil War era to present day.
Our week long period
encampment experiences
will generate a great deal of enthusiasm and
interest, as they have at Wentworth Military
Academy where they have a long waiting list for
openings to participate.
We will staff our programs with knowledgeable
military veterans coupled with professional staff
members to enhance the experience to the fullest.
Our sole purpose is to re-create the time period in
a safe, educational setting for the benefit of all
participating.
Revenue from this program format will be used to
assist in the upkeep of the memorial complex. | |
